Master Gordon Pang lives by the ancient saying, “The greatest hermit dwells in the heart of the bustling city.” While his outward life appears to follow a conventional path of career and family, his inner journey has always been extraordinary.
Gordon’s ancestry is deeply rooted in spirituality, connecting him to Fu Qian Si, a Buddhist monastery established by his grandmother’s family on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Adjacent to the monastery stood the first temple dedicated to Lü Zu, a Daoist Immortal, on the island. This temple was later donated and incorporated into the monastery as part of the Luk Wu Ching She. This unique blend of Buddhist and Daoist traditions became the cornerstone of Gordon’s spiritual journey.
From the age of four, Gordon began practicing Daoist breathing techniques and Buddhist meditation, laying the foundation for his lifelong spiritual training. During his school years, he studied Buddhist scriptures and delved into martial arts, including Wing Chun, Eagle Claw, Japanese Kendo, and Tai Chi.
In his early twenties, Gordon expanded his spiritual education in Japan through the study of Japanese Esoteric Buddhism. He deepened his practice through spiritual retreats across the globe, including in the Himalayas, continually exploring and refining his inner cultivation.
A former senior executive in Hong Kong’s leading financial institutions, Gordon chose to step away from a high-powered career to prioritize his spiritual growth. With two Master’s degrees and numerous professional qualifications, he retired in his early thirties to focus on inner practices, including Tai Chi, Daoist Neigong, and spiritual meditation.
During Sifu Cheung’s six-year personal retreat, Gordon took on the responsibility of teaching Sifu Cheung’s advanced-level students, offering Tai Chi and Neigong retreats. During this period, he also introduced several home study courses, such as Hua Shan Healing Qigong, Yi Jin Jing, Awaken Dan Tian by Tai Chi Push Hand and a Daoist classic, Dao De Jing: Unfiltered Thoughts in Motion, for the general public. His teachings also significantly influenced programs like Tai Chi Neigong and Qigong Mode & Tai Chi Posture Requirements Level 3. Currently, he is focused on translating additional Daoist classics that align with his lineage’s inner practices into simple English accessible to a broader audience.
