TaiChi Neigong

This Taichi Neigong course is quite different than the Set 1 and 2 Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi in a key aspect. In traditional Daoist Neigong, there is typically no physical movement. One’s focus is on pure internal qi movement, we are not talking about the wei qi felt between palms, but the qi inside the body. Thus, physical motion and breathing are not as important in this Taichi Neigong course when compared with the Shibashi Qigong.

However, when internal qi and the qi feeling are not strong enough, it is very difficult for students to practice pure neigong. For example: when students’ internal qi feeling is weak, they cannot use just purely their minds to guide a specific type of qi through a specific path to a certain energy center. Using physical movements that synchronize with the qi flow can increase the feeling of internal qi. In This Taichi Neigong course, all movements synchronize the physical motions, breathing and (visualization of the) qi flow. This is particularly helpful for those whose internal qi feeling is not yet strong enough to do pure neigong. Therefore, you can say this Tai Chi Neigong set is a bridge between moving qigong and pure neigong.

This set has 18 flowing movements which you can practice as a sequence, and in this respect it is similar with other Shibashi. Almost half of the movements in this set are traditional tai chi moves which prepare you well if you want to learn traditional tai chi later. If you already know some traditional tai chi routines, you will learn the proper breathing, martial applications and most importantly how the qi flows in those tai chi movements.

You may say why not learn traditional tai chi then? In authentic tai chi which is just neigong in motion, one should use the internal qi to move the big and deep muscles and tendons to generate the movements. It may take years of pure neigong practice to be able to achieve this. Also, traditional tai chi is martial art focused which means the movements are more complicated. When one put too much focus on the movements and trying to remember the long sequence, it become much hard to put the attention on the internal qi part.

In this set, I assume the practitioners already have the proper foundation from the Level 1 and 2 Qigong Mode & Tai Chi Posture Requirement Programs to begin with. So they can put the primary focus on the qi flow, rather than the posture and physical movements like in Set 1 and 2 Shibashi because as long as the energy flow is correct, the physical motion should be correct too.

In this taichi neigong course, you learn:

  • How the qi flows in each movement
  • How to exchange your turbid qi with the universe and earth qi
  • How to charge up the middle and lower dan tian
  • How to release stagnated qi in the head
  • How to activate and develop the central channel (zhong mai)
  • How to rotate the middle and lower dan tian
  • How to open different gates of the body
  • Movements that trigger inner alchemy phenomena
  • Tai Chi and Bagua steps training to improve agility and prevent falling
  • Martial applications of those tai chi movements

The Daoist practice often talks about different gates of the body. One of the three gates on the back side of our bodies is Jia Ji gate. Here is one of the movements of this TaiChi Neigong Course that can help unlock this gate:
